A comparative anatomical study was conducted for the Tragia plukenetii R. Smith. and Tragia involucrata L. species growing in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu, India by using Motic digital research microscope. The present study is used to evaluate their diagnostic value for systematic studies. The transverse section characters of leaf and trichome structures are much essential for the standardization of crude drug. Results of the present study are helps to resolve botanical identity of the chosen plant specimens of Tragia, both at subgeneric and sectional levels. Moreover, the results obtained in the present study are indicated that there is some degree of similarity among the species of Tragia.
